Governments have been receiving complaints in increasing numbers from consumers about unwanted and uninvited calls to their homes from telemarketers. Several country governments have enacted - or are about to - do not call lists. A Do Not Call List (DNCL) gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls at home. Most telemarketers should not call your number once it has been on the registry for 31 days. If they do, you can file a complaint.
This site contains information about the various countries with Do Not Call List programs. In general, you can register your phone number for free, you may remove your number from the list at any time. Where Can I Find People A Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls.
